God, Israel, Syria and Damascus.

"The Burden of Damascus.
Behold, Damascus is taken away
from being a city, and it shall be
a ruinous heap."
Isaiah 17 v 1.

We'll Guard Old Derry's Walls

In Londonderry today with brother Gordon Kennedy. Toured the famous walls and at a look in St Columb's Cathedral. History shouting at you from every stone and cannon! Ended up in McAuley's Bible Bookshop in Ballymoney and burger and chips for lunch. Good day out!

Just Look How Close We Are To Scotland!

Knowledge Shall Increase.

"The literal translation of Daniel 12:4 indicates that during the end times, an explosion of knowledge will occur. We are living in that generation. From the Garden of Eden until the beginning of the twentieth century, men walked or rode horses just as King David and Julius Caesar did.

In the span of a few years, however, mankind invented the automobile, the jet plane, and the space shuttle. Today you can fly from New York to Paris in three hours. Twentieth century technology has increased, not a little at a time, but exponentially. You can sit in the quiet of your own home and drown yourself in information from the internet. We used to be in awe of how many volumes of information could fit on a computer's CD ROM disk, but now a DVD can hold up to four times as much as a typical CD! In the last two generations, we have put men on the moon and redefined life and death. Medical science has the ability to keep a corpse breathing for months on life support. Tiny babies weighing less than one pound can survive outside the womb, and unborn babies can undergo surgery before birth. We can repair DNA before a child is conceived; we can clone sheep, mice, and cattle. We have the technology to clone humans, and before too long, I'm sure someone will.

All this knowledge ought to be a good thing, but still we're on the road to doomsday. Our knowledge has not produced Utopia; instead, it has created a generation of people who know more about rock stars than history. Our "enlightened" society seeks freedom and self-expression, but it is actually enslaved by drugs, perversion, and occult practices. We favor death for the innocent and mercy - even praise! - for the guilty. We tout the benefits of secular humanism, the worship of man’s intellect, yet our enlightened, religion-free government finds itself impotent in the face of growing crime. Why? Because knowledge without God can produce intellectual barbarians, smarter sinners. Hitler's Nazis threw Jewish children alive into the ovens. Many of them were educated men; some had PhD’s, but their education was accomplished without the acknowledgment or the knowledge of God.

"We have grasped the mystery of the atom," General Omar Bradley told a Boston audience in November 1948, "and rejected the Sermon on the Mount... With the monstrous weapons man already has, humanity is in danger of being trapped in this world by moral adolescents. Our knowledge of science has already outstripped our capacity to control it. We have too many men of science, too few of God." "

Yes, with atomic energy and the field of electronics, knowledge has increased at a frightening pace. Its like riding on the back of a tiger - once you get on, you cant get off. As Daniel states, the end times will be marked by the increase of knowledge. We cannot stop the coming of the end times, its a prediction from God, and it will happen. But God gave us a way out of the whole mess. What we can do - is pray to save our own souls and our families, from the coming tribulation.

Adam

The Dark Times In Life.

Life can take a turn
You never thought it would
Suddenly so much can change
With so little that's understood

You ask so many questions
It seems without reply
Your heart is pained with so much doubt
And unanswered questions 'why'

It's almost like we walk through life
Just feeling our way around
We can't see the road ahead
Nor our feet on the ground

Darkness is all about us
We struggle to see the light
Just a glimmer now and then
But then fades out of sight

We cry out to God again
To show us where to go
He says 'Just take another step
To where peace freely flows'

And as we keep on taking steps
Guided by the Lord
We find in time, we walk into
The joy we knew before

It's in those times of darkness
When we feel we've lost all hope
God can do a work in us
That brings a deeper growth

So when we face the dark times
We should come before the Lord
For good will come if we believe
And hope shall be restored.

Adam Mc Knight

Last Sunday on returning home from Dungannon, I recieved the sad news from Australia that my nephew Adam Mc Knight had died tragically. For the last few years Adam had suffered from depression and had just turned 30 when he died. As a family we are all thinking about my sister Liz and her husband Angus over there in Perth also Adam's two sisters Jemma and Rachel and all the family circle in Australia at this sad time.

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained
Too deeply for mirth or song
As the burdens press
And the cares distress
And the day grows weary and long?
O yes He cares; I know He cares
His heart is touched with my grief
When the days grow weary, the long nights dreary
I know my Saviour cares.

God in a Tent.

Was at the tent mission again last night over in Lisbane, Comber. What a tremendous meeting! Rev William McCrea sang and preached the Gospel with great liberty and power. Kind of 'up close preaching' I'd say which speaks to the heart and conscience. Another good crowd gathered in and unconverted hearing the message night by night. May God be glorified in the salvation of many!

The Movings Of God!

Evangelistic
Campaign
Iron Hall
East Belfast.
As a young Christian I was thrilled with the Mission that was held in the Iron Hall in East Belfast I think the year was 1980. I will never forget seeing the crowds who could not get in to the hall when pastor Mullan gave his testimony. Only for George McGilton seeing me outside and bringing me in a side door I would not have been in that meeting that night. God moved wonderfully in that mission and many were converted to Christ.
